YOUNG Isaac Go had just gotten some fatherly advice from PBA commissioner Willie Marcial.
Although not yet officially with the league, Marcial cautioned Go to be a little more discreet with his actions in light of him joining a recent five-on-five game involving two PBA players and some collegiate stars whose video became viral recently.
While the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) on Emerging Infectious Diseases already gave professional basketball and football teams the go-signal to resume practices, scrimmages are still prohibited under General Community Quarantine (GCQ).

“Kinausap ko si Isaac Go at sabi ko hindi kita ipapatawag,” the PBA chief said. “Sinabihan ko lang siya. Binigyan ko ng kaunting advice.
“Sinabi ko sa kanya (Go), technically nasa PBA (ka na), pero nasa Gilas ka,” Marcial said of the sharp-shooting big man out of Ateneo.
The 6-foot-8 Go was tabbed by Columbian Dyip as the No. 1 overall pick in last year’s rookie draft, though he’s yet to play in the pro league as Go is currently on loan to the Gilas Pilipinas program of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).
Marcial said Go was very apologetic during their talk.
“Panay ang sorry niya. At tsaka magalang naman yung bata,” he added.

The commissioner also got the opportunity to talk to another member of the Gilas Pilipinas pool in Thirdy Ravena, who also profusely apologized for joining the pick-up games held in a popular gym in San Juan.
While Ravena has yet to apply for the PBA, it’s no secret the Ateneo superstar who’s about to take his act in the Japan B.League, has maintained a close relationship with Marcial, whom he fondly calls ‘tatay.’
While Go was spared from being summoned by the Commissioner’s Office, the same cannot be said for Barangay Ginebra veteran forward Japeth Aguilar and Rain or Shine rookie Adrian Wong.
The two have been booked for a Monday call by Marcial for their participation in the five-a-side game, especially since the league has sent out a memo to all member teams banning players from engaging in scrimmages and pick-up games.
Marcial said he’ll review the video in the presence of Aguilar and Wong.
“Yung video (ng game) ilalagay natin sa big screen and ipapakita natin sa kanila,” said the commissioner.
He refused to commit to any possible fine or suspension until hearing the side of the two players.
“Kung ano ang explanation nila, doon tayo manggagaling kung ano ang puwedeng gawin sa kanila,” said Marcial.”
