ROBERT Bolick had nothing but praise for his NorthPort teammates, deflecting the credit after a debut to remember in the PBA on Wednesday.
"Swerte lang ako sa team talaga, ang babait nila eh," he said.
The No. 3 pick of the 2018 PBA Rookie Draft scored 26 points on an ultra-efficient 10-of-12 shooting clip, on top of three rebounds and three assists in the Batang Pier's season-opening 117-91 victory over Blackwater.
The former San Beda star, however, credited his veteran teammates for giving him words of encouragement and the confidence to shoot.
"Yung mga beterano, 'yun pa 'yung mababait eh. Di na ganoong kalaki yung adjustment na ginagawa ko dahil sobrang swerte ko as a player na ganito kaagad yung napuntahan kong team," Bolick said.
Of his 'kuyas' in NorthPort, Bolick said it was Stanley Pringle who is most vocal.
"Si Stanley, sobrang bait. Ang dami ko kaagad natutunan sa kanya," he said. "Kita mo nga, pag kinausap mo yung tao parang hindi siya star player eh. Napaka-humble, napaka-simpleng tao.
"Lagi niya ako kinakausap at sinasabihan na just play your game. Nakikita ko sa practice yung mga ginagawa niya at syempre kailangan ko kunin yung paano siya mag-work out. Ang galing niya eh, ginagaya ko lang siya."
As impressive as his debut was, the 23-year-old Bolick refused to be carried away.
"Hopefully tuluy-tuloy. Di pa naman ako kuntento kasi first game pa lang eh. Madami pang mabibigat na teams na kakalabanin. Kailangan ko lang mag-trabaho ng doble araw-araw," he said.
