SAN Miguel Beer veteran Ronald Tubid has been suspended two games and fined P30,000 by the PBA Commissioner's Office for a hit on Chris Newsome that left the Meralco sophomore with a swollen right eye on Sunday night.
Tubid was handed the fine and suspension shortly after a meeting with Commissioner Chito Narvasa at the league office in Libis on Tuesday afternoon. The veteran forward came by his lonesome and was very apologetic to league officials about the incident.
The verdict meant Tubid won’t be around for the Beermen’s game against Phoenix this Friday and Star on Easter Sunday.

Tubid, 35, insisted the hit on Newsome was unintentional but nonetheless said he was ready to face the consequences after the controversial play.
The play happened at the 9:12 mark of the final quarter of a 99-92 SMB win when Tubid hit Newsome with a close fist on the right eye as the two were going for a rebound following a miss by Baser Amer.
“Sorry talaga,” he said. “Bahala na next game, tanggap ko naman.”
