RONALD Pascual is keeping his fingers crossed that he can finally make a PBA comeback when the new season unfolds on December 17.
Pascual, a highly regarded forward out of San Sebastian who has yet to find his feet in three seasons as a pro, is doing everything he can to crack the lineup of Alaska for the Philippine Cup.
"Gustong-gusto ko makapasok sa team para makabalik na 'ko sa PBA," said Pascual after the Aces dropped their second straight match in the PBA preseason pocket tournament at the hands of Phoenix, 85-89.
The 6-3 wingman was drafted third overall by San Miguel Beer in 2014 but never got to replicate his success in college, where he earned fame as the hot-shooting member of the Stags' 'Pinatubo Trio' with fellow Kapampangans Calvin Abueva and Ian Sangalang.
After joining GlobalPort and Blackwater last season but never playing in a single game, Pascual, 29, went on a basketball hiatus for five months before getting a new lease on life at Alaska in July this year as a practice player.
At Alaska, Pascual has been given the chance to prove himself in preseason tournaments, but the former Stags star admitted he still has a lot to work on.
"Yung physical condition ko (kailangan pa i-work). Kasi ang tagal ko na-off," said Pascual, who has played in just 31 games in his pro career.
"Tsaka yun nga, yung system. Marami pa [dapat gawin] para sa 'kin."
