A right calf strain kept Terrence Romeo out of Game 1 of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals between San Miguel and Meralco.
The prolific shooting guard was in uniform but didn’t see action in the series opener which the Beermen lost, 93-86, on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Team physical therapist Edward Bacason said Romeo is still bothered by the injury which he suffered during Game 4 of the Beermen’s semifinals series against Rain or Shine.
Romeo failed to finish the game against the Elasto Painters and was seen taking off his shoe while walking with a limp on the way to the San Miguel dugout.
“Yung calf ko medyo tumitigas, parang magka-cramps na hindi mo maintindihan,” said the former UAAP MVP out of Far Eastern University following the game at the Dasmarinas Arena in Cavite.
Apparently, the two-week break San Miguel had as it awaited its finals opponent wasn’t enough for the Romeo calf injury to heal.
And as he watched the game against the Bolts from the sidelines, the Beermen obviously missed his 13.2 points average, including shooting 44 percent from long range.
Bacason was tightlipped on whether Romeo would be able to play in Friday’s Game 2 or for the rest of the title series.
