APART from permanently taking home the Jun Bernardino Perpetual Trophy, the Talk n’ Text Tropang Texters likewise earned a Rolex Oyster Perpetual wrist watch as bonus after clinching the PBA Philippine Cup championship at the expense of Rain or Shine.
A Spin.ph source within the team said the classy, luxurious watch was owner Manny V. Pangilinan’s bonus for the team that became the first franchise to win an all-Filipino title three times since the legendary Crispa Redmanizers in the early eighties.
Pangilinan made the announcement to Talk `N Text players on Sunday after an 89-80 win over the Elasto Painters gave the PLDT franchise a commanding 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
The same source said the Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch, endorsed by Swiss tennis star Roger Federer, is currently worth P350,000 in the market.
The source added the name of each player will be engraved in their respective timepiece, along with the year the team won a historic third straight All-Filipino crown.
“Gusto kasi ni Boss MVP maging memorable sa amin lahat `yung championship kaya yun ang ibibigay niya sa amin,” said the source who refused to be identified.
Pangilinan has always been known for his generosity.
During the team’s 2010 Philippine Cup title quest, each Talk `N Text player received a brand-new Toyota Vios, while last year when the Tropang Texters retained their title, the PLDT and Smart Communications chairman gifted team members with a gold the size of a kisses chocolate estimated to be worth a little less than P200K, plus a cash bonus three times the players’ monthly salary.
