ROI Sumang is just going to enjoy the coming PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals that will see Blackwater earning its highest-ever seed in playoffs history.
The Elite clinched the no. 3 spot ahead of the playoffs following their 112-104 victory over the Alaska Aces on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Certainly that is a complete reversal to the team’s fortunes as the franchise only advanced past the eliminations only for number of time.
What more now that Blackwater finished as the third best team going to the next round.
“Masarap sa feeling kasi no. 3 (kami). Hindi katulad before na lagi kaming umaasa kung sino ang mananalo,” said Sumang.
“So ngayon kami ang may hawak kung ano yung puwedeng maging spot namin. Kaya ayun nakuha namin yung no. 3.”
And Sumang had a big hand on that as he scored seven of the Elite’s last 12 points including a huge three-pointer down the stretch that made it a 102-96 lead for Blackwater.
In all, the guard out of University of the East finished with 18 points and five assists as Blackwater finished the eliminations with a 7-4 record.
Sumang though, said the victory was an all team effort.
“Naglaro kami bawat isa. Yung game plan namin, mas umikot yung bola,” he said.
“Gusto talaga lang namin manalo para mag-stay kami sa third spot kasi ngayon lang ito nangyari sa amin. Kaya lahat masaya.”
