ROGER Pogoy suffered a left ankle sprain on Friday that forced him to only play 12 minutes for TNT against Meralco in the 2023 PBA Governors’ Cup.
Pogoy sprained his ankle after attempting to drive past Chris Banchero during the 9:44 mark of the second quarter. The TNT guard actually returned briefly but sat it out for good from the six-minute mark of the period.

Pogoy was coming off a 40-point performance against Blackwater, and has been the most consistent scorer of TNT thus far in the conference. He was also a shoo-in for the Gilas Pilipinas team in the coming Fiba window.
A report on the broadcast said that Pogoy went straight to the hospital after the game to check on his ankle.
TNT coach Jojo Lastimosa is hoping for the best.
“From what I saw, I think it’s bad enough that he can’t go. It’s not that bad that he was able to come back. I’m hoping that it is not severe,” said Lastimosa.
Aside from the TNT campaign, Pogoy is part of the 24-man pool of Gilas Pilipinas in the sixth and final window of the Fiba Basketball World Cup Asian qualifiers.
Pogoy is a cinch for the Final 12 of Gilas, which has already lost Japeth Aguilar and Ange Kouame to injuries and failed to secure the commitments of Kai Sotto and Carl Tamayo.
TNT also got a scare when Jayson Castro also hurt his foot late in the first quarter after stepping on Anjo Caram. Fortunately, Castro, who has had his share of ankle sprains over the past few conferences, was able to return and finish the game.
