HEALTH first, work later.
No less than San Miguel Corp. president and chief executive officer Ramon S. Ang gave the advice to team governor Robert Non after his successful heart bypass surgery on Thursday morning at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City.
Non’s health condition came at a time when the Beermen, the newly-crowned Philippine Cup champions, are currently struggling in the Commissioner’s Cup after losing their first three games in the tournament.
But Ang said the SMC official has nothing to worry about, stressing his health his first and foremost rather than the current state of the team.
The SMC boss also had his personal doctor look after Non.
“It's sad the team is groping for form. So I told Robert to think of himself and his health first rather than the current plight of the team," Ang said in an interview with Spin.ph.
Non, the head of SMC's basketball operations, suffered a mild stroke while on his way to watch the Purefoods-Blackwater match last February 6.
But the warrior that Non is, Ang believes his top lieutenant will be able to fully recover from his heart operation.
"I hope everyone will offer prayers for Robert's quick recovery," said the SMC top executive.
