BASKETBALL icon Robert Jaworski declined to point fingers following the debacle suffered by Gilas Pilipinas in the 2014 Asian Games, instead encouraging the country's basketbaall leadership to learn from the lessons of the country's worst finish in the quadrennial tournament.

Speaking during halftime of the 'All In' basketball event that featured former NBA star Allen Iverson at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday night, Jaworski refused to pin the blame on anyone for the events that led to the seventh-place finish of the national team.

“I’m proactive. I don’t want to point fingers,” said Jaworski, coach of the all-pro Philippine team that took the silver medal in the 1990 Asian Games in Beijing. “They themselves know what transpired. They are obviously things that can be done and have to be adjusted para we can come up with a better showing.”

Gilas coach Chot Reyes came under fire from Jaworski’s contemporaries, including former Toyota teammates Mon Fernandez and Abe King who slammed the decision to order Marcus Douthit to score an 'own goal' during the game against Kazakhstan, among others.

Jaworski, however, refused to dwell on the Asiad letdown and encouraged fans to move on.

“Let’s face it, that’s done. Let’s learn from the mistakes and look forward to the things we would have probably done. Let’s figure out kung ano ‘yung mga pagkukulang. And then, move on,” said Jaworski.

“We must realize that winning is something. But the manner by which you win and the quorum that you put together is the best representation the country can make,” added the former Ginebra playing-coach.
