Pido on returning Robert Bolick: 'Alam niya team na niya ‘to'

    Sep 21, 2019

ROBERT Bolick shone in his first game back in the PBA after playing for Gilas Pilipinas in the Fiba Basketball World Cup.

Bolick finished with 20 points, four rebounds, and five assists in leading NorthPort to a 99-94 win over Rain or Shine in the Governors’ Cup opener on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Batang Pier led by many as 24 points in the contest, but still needed clutch baskets from Bolick, who had eight points in the fourth period to stave off rallies by the Elastopainters.

NorthPort coach Pido Jarencio is impressed with the play of their prized rookie.

“’Yung confidence niya, tataas na talaga,” Jarencio said. “Isipin mo, the best in the world, nakalaban niya.

At the same time, nagkakumpiyansa. Pagdating niya sa PBA, iba ang dating niya, parang full of confidence,” said Jarencio.

Jarencio said he is impressed with Bolick in his play more so since he only had a few weeks to prepare for the Governors’ Cup due to the Gilas stint.

For Bolick though, nothing changed in his role with NorthPort except that he’s trying to apply what he learned from the World Cup.

“I just play my game.

Bolick said the adjustment wasn’t difficult for him when he rejoined NorthPort from Gilas.
