ROOKIE as he may be, but Robert Bolick isn't backing down from any challenge.
Last year's No. 3 overall pick took it upon himself to have the last shot and delivered in a thrilling 93-92 NorthPort win over Meralco on Friday night in the PBA Commissioner's Cup at the Astrodome.
Bolick said such game-winner is what players always dream about.
"Ito yung mga moments na each player gustong maka-game winner. Sa akin I just want to win and took the opportunity na kunin yung last shot. Ayun na-shoot naman," said the NorthPort rookie sensation.
The prolific guard out of San Beda led the Batang Pier with 18 points, three rebounds, and two assists. The game hero shared the credit with teammates after the win that gave NorthPort a 9-2 record heading to the playoffs.
"Everybody played great kahit limited minutes yung iba, naglalaro kami ng maayos," he said. "We simply followed the game plan."
Chances of NorthPort claiming the No. 1 seed in the quarterfinals depends on the outcome of league-leader TnT Katropa's game against Magnolia at the end of the eliminations on Wednesday.
But be it No. 1 or 2, the Batang Pier are already assured of twice-to-beat advantage in the playoffs - a first in franchise history.
The win over the Bolts was just the icing on the cake, according to Bolick.
"Ito yung stepping stone namin sa playoffs," he said. "Ang sarap sa feeling na lahat ng pinag-trabahuhan namin nandito na."
