ROBERT Bolick is making a strong case for the PBA Governors Cup Best Player of the Conference award with perennial rival June Mar Fajardo a little bit out of sight yet.

The NLEX shooting guard emerged as the frontrunner for the conference’s highest individual honor based on latest statistics released by the league prior to the start of the playoffs.

A perennial BPC contender who has yet to hit pay dirt, Bolick leads all players in accumulated statistical points with 37.1 SPs.

Bolick has been a steady player for NLEX this conference, helping the franchise take the top seed in Group A with a 9-3 record behind his averages of 17.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 8.0 assists.

He’ll be attempting to win the award anew especially with Fajardo, the player with the winningest number of BPC awards at 13, a little bit down in the standings despite San Miguel tying NLEX on top of its group.

Instead, it was Maverick Ahanmisi of Terrafirma and the Converge trio of Justin Arana, Justin Baltazar, and rookie Juan Gomez De Liano who’s crowding Bolick for the final BPC award of Season 50.

The 34-year-old Ahanmisi is running second behind Bolick at 35.7 SPs, after submitting numbers of 16.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, and a league-best 8.5 assists.

But Terrafirma's failure to advance to the playoffs has all but taken Ahanmisi out of the running for the award.

The three Converge players could give Bolick a run for his money.

Arana is currently ranked No. 3 with 34.7 SPs, then Baltazar at fourth with 34.2 SPs, and Gomez De Liano at fifth with 33.8 SPs.

The FiberXers are back in the playoffs after missing out on the quarterfinals in the last Commissioner’s Cup, thanks mainly to the impressive numbers posted by their three-headed monster.

The 6-foot-8 Arana leads Converge in scoring with 18.9 points to go with his 7.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists; Baltazar averages 15.0 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists, and Gomez-De Liano has numbers of 14.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 7.8 assists.
