ROBERT Bolick faces his old team for the first time as NLEX battles NorthPort on Friday in the PBA 48th Season Philippine Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The Road Warriors and the Batang Pier see action at 7:30 p.m. Both teams were involved in a blockbuster deal got Bolick being moved by the team that drafted him third overall in 2018.
The former San Beda cager said he is forever grateful to NorthPort.
“Sila ang nagbigay ng opportunity sa akin kung bakit ako nakilala sa PBA. Magkikita-kita pa rin naman kami sa PBA,” said Bolick.
Bolick has been a valuable contributor for NLEX last conference, averaging 16 points and 10.3 assists in four games with the Road Warriors in the Commissioner’s Cup.
The Road Warriors will also feature new players including Baser Amer, who was acquired through free agency. NLEX was also recently involved in a trade where it received Ato Ular, Yousef Taha, and a future draft pick for Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser.
NLEX will face a NorthPort team that got a boost with former UAAP standout Zavier Lucero scheduled to make his PBA debut.
William Navarro is also slated to return after suffering an ACL injury that forced him to sit out for more than a year.
In the first game, Terrafirma and Converge battle at 4:30 p.m. with both teams eager to start the new conference on a high note.
The Dyip finished the Commissioner’s Cup with a 2-9 win-loss record after dropping their final eight games.
The FiberXers only won once last conference including a 103-94 overtime win over the Dyip last December 13.
Another rookie could also be making his debut on Friday in BJ Andrade, Converge’s No. 10 pick in this season’s draft but missed the entire Commissioner’s Cup due to an injury.
