But he felt the same way for NLEX even though he’s barely a week with the franchise.
“Since Day One, it’s all good vibes here. I felt welcome, I felt wanted, and as a player that’s all you can ask for, to feel welcome and to feel wanted,” said the 29-year-old Fil-Am.
Herndon was quick to repay the warm welcome he had gotten from his new home as he registered 10 points in his debut with NLEX in the PBA On Tour Wednesday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
But he was only 3-of-9 from the field, but had three rebounds and two assists in the Road Warriors’ 96-83 loss to the Meralco Bolts.
Nonetheless, Herndon believes he’ll get better once he learns the system being run by the Road Warriors under coach Frankie Lim.
“Step by step I just want to continue to build chemistry on them, how these players play,” he said.
Herndon was picked up by NLEX as a free agent after failing to get a fresh deal with San Miguel.
He signed a two-year contract with the Road Warriors on Tuesday, which he referred to as a mutual thing.
“So far, so good,” he said.
He has nothing though, but good words for San Miguel, where he won a championship in last year’s Philippine Cup finals against TNT.
“I wish my brothers there (good luck). I love them,” said Herndon, adding he’s very thankful for the opportunity given to him by the Beermen.
