MONTALBAN, Rizal – Two brothers played at the same time during Wednesday’s PBA 50th Season Philippine Cup match-up between Phoenix and Terrafirma.
Ricci and Prince Rivero suited up for opposing teams in the Fuelmasters’ 107-76 win over the Dyip, whose team had Maverick Ahanmisi joining forces with his brother Jerrick for the first time.

Records weren’t readily available as of posting time but PBA statistics chief Fidel Mangonon said the last time two brothers played in the same game could be the Loyzaga and Tuadles brothers.
A look at the careers of the four players saw that they may have played together sometime in 1989 when Chito and Joey Loyzaga were together at Ginebra San Miguel, and Arnie and Calvin Tuadles at Shell.

Chito Loyzaga and Arnie Tuadles are members of the PBA’s 50 Greatest Players of all time, with Tuadles being a recently enshrined posthumously.
What is sure though is that two brothers playing in the same game is quite rare. The last time brothers played in a PBA game was in 2024 in Brandon and Matt Ganuelas-Rosser of TNT.
Among the four, Ricci Rivero was the only player that went home victorious by finishing with 16 points and six rebounds for the Fuelmasters.
Prince Rivero had two points and two rebounds for the Dyip.
The Ahanmisi brothers struggled in the contest with Maverick scoring three points in 11 minutes, while Jerrick scoring only two on 1-of-8 field goal shooting.
