RILEY Grigsby will remain on standby as Barangay Ginebra import even with Justin Brownlee expected to return during the resumption of the PBA 50th Season Governors’ Cup.
Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone said Grigsby will likely be back for the Gin Kings in the event that Brownlee somehow couldn’t play after his Gilas Pilipinas stint in the Asian Games concludes.

“Riley will stay on call for us. And if something happens to Justin or he couldn’t make it, there’s a good chance that we bring Riley back,” Cone said.
Grigsby said he doesn’t mind being in the situation of temporarily taking over from Brownlee, who sat the first part of the Governors’ Cup due to various injuries.
“I don’t know what’s going on right now. Obviously, we don’t know what’s up with Justin in his recovery. Hopefully, he is healthy," Grigsby said.
"Obviously, I want to come back and play but I wish nothing but good health for Justin, he can come back and finish his career with Ginebra. Obviously, what he has created here has been great. But if they need me, I’ll be ready," he added.
Grigsby is coming back to the United States on Monday after a six-game stint with the Gin Kings where he averaged 31.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.6 blocks.
Unfortunately, Barangay Ginebra lost to Meralco, 97-88, with Grigsby finishing with 34 points and 10 rebounds.
Cone was saddened that he was unable to give Grigsby a victory before he returning to the United States.
“I just wished that I’ve done better for Riley. He is such a good guy. We really wanted to play better for him and we didn’t, and I wanted to coach better for him but I didn’t,” Cone said.
