RICHARD Howell is set to embark on his second tour of duty as import for Talk ‘n Text in the upcoming PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
New Tropang Texters manager Jimmy Alapag confirmed the development in a text message on Wednesday, marking the return of the American slotman to the fold after he reinforced the squad in the same tournament last year.
It was a logical decision for the Texters, who meshed well with Howell in the 2014 Commissioner’s Cup, where the 6-foot-8 big man established himself as a rebounding machine after averaging 18.6 boards on top of 19.5 points, 1.7 assists, and 1.5 steals in 38.1 minutes in 16 games on the way to being adjudged as the conference’s Best Import.
The Texters went undefeated in nine games in the elimination round and reached the Finals under Howell, but the squad fell short after losing to sixth seed and eventual champion San Mig Coffee in the championship round.
The 24-year-old Howell played for Italian club Juvecaserta Basket after his stint in the Philippines.
