    Guevarra seeks record-tying fifth Slam Dunk contest crown in PBA All-Stars

    CALASIAO, Pangasinan—Rey Guevarra, James Yap, and Beau Belga will be defending their crown in the skills competition of the PBA All-Star Weekend at the Calasiao Sports Complex.

    Guevarra will be eyeing for his fifth Slam Dunk crown, while Yap will be going for his third Three-Point Shootout crown in Friday’s skills challenge that will begin at 4:30 p.m.

    A fifth Slam Dunk crown will tie the Phoenix Pulse cager with Nino Canaleta for the most Slam Dunk contest titles in PBA history. But he will be going up against a stiff competition in Newsome, Lervin Flores of NorthPort, Renz Palma of Blackwater, and rookie CJ Perez of Columbian.

      Yap, on the other hand, will be competing against Kevin Ferrer of Barangay Ginebra, Marcio Lassiter of San Miguel, Matthew Wright of Phoenix Pulse, RR Pogoy of TNT, Simon Enciso of Alaska, Baser Amer of Meralco, Rashawn McCarthy of Columbian, Philip Paniamogan of NLEX, and Robert Bolick of NorthPort.

      Belga’s bid for back-to-back crowns will be challenged by four-time PBA Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo, Mo Tautuaa of NorthPort, Noy Baclao of Alaska, Marion Magat of NLEX, Justin Chua of Phoenix Pulse, Prince Caperal of Barangay Ginebra, Bryan Faundo of Meralco, Raymar Jose of Blackwater, Russel Escoto of Columbian, and Yousef Taha of TNT.
