AFTER being cut by Kia, Rey Guevarra has found himself fighting for a spot in Phoenix's lineup.

The former Slam Dunk champion and seven-year PBA veteran admitted making the lineup of the Fuel Masters is not as easy as soaring high for one of his highlight slams.

Aside from the former Letran star, also vying for the last two slots in the Fuel Masters roster are Jam Cortes, Marvin Hayes, and Mike Gamboa.

Nonetheless, Guevarra is giving his all every practice in the hope of getting the nod of Louie Alas, his former college coach at Letran who took over the Phoenix job over a month ago.

"Hindi ko alam e," he said when asked about his chances of being enlisted in the team. "I just give my best every practice."

"Malaking adjustment pa rin kasi ilang years na rin ang nakalipas e (since I last played for Louie Alas), ilang teams na rin nilaruan ko at iba-iba yung systems," the 31-year-old said.

"Tuma-trap pa rin naman gaya ng dati pero may adjustment pa rin kasi ngayon na lang ako uli nakaranas ng ganun."

For now, all Gueverra can do is do his best and keep his fingers crossed.
