THE wear and tear of the game obviously had gotten the better of some PBA Legends.
Rey Evangelista and Boy Cabahug sat out the ‘Return of Rivals’ benefit game Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum owing to various injuries.
While the two Purefoods stalwarts showed up at the Big Dome, both were not in playing uniform and were reduced as cheerleaders on the bench in the Hotdogs’ 97-89 loss to rival Ginebra Kings.
Evangelista suffered the same fate as San Miguel’s Biboy Ravanes after going down with a torn Achilles during a game in Ormoc last November.
While he already went under the knife shortly after the incident, the power forward out of University of Santo Tomas is still undergoing rehabilitation on the operated foot.
Ravanes also tore his Achilles during San Miguel’s first practice for the exhibition match and showed up in crutches to show support for the Beermen.
Cabahug meanwhile, is nursing a swollen back.
“Namaga yung sa may bandang spine ko,” he said. “Sayang nga kung kailan pa malapit na yung game doon pa nangyari.”
Also around but didn’t play were Art dela Cruz for San Miguel and Romy Mamaril for Ginebra.
