Assistant Provincial Prosecutor Maria Victoria Cayaba filed the criminal case to the Lumban-Kalayaan Municipal Circuit Trial Court following inquest proceedings on Thursday.
Caparas reported that the court has recommended a P24,000 bail on Amores for his temporary release before the trial.
Meanwhile, Amores’ brother John Red is also being charged with attempted homicide, with the court recommending a P10,000 bail.
Caparas reported that Amores’ camp is already working on the requirements for the bail.
Early news reports stated that Amores could be charged with attempted murder. However, Amores is still facing a possible jail time of six to 12 years if proven guilty of attempted homicide.
A case has been filed against the PBA player after shooting an individual in a highway at Barangay Maytalang Uno, Lumban, Laguna. There were no casualties in the shooting.
The incident occurred following a heated argument in a basketball game in Barangay Salac that had P4,000 at stake.
Amores’ brother was also filed criminal charges as he was driving the motorcycle that John hailed before the shooting.
In the case, the Municipal Circuit Trial Court said Amores brothers are accused for “conspiring, confederating together, and helping one another willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously, armed win an unlicensed gun and with intent to kill, shot/fired towards the direction of” the victim.
Meanwhile, Caparas also reported that a paraffin test conducted on Amores yielded a negative result, meaning it didn’t found any gunpowder nitrates on the hands of Amores. Police, however, believed that there is still a strong case against Amores despite the negative parrafin test because of the CCTV footage that recorded the incident.
Caparas also reported that police are now searching for the gun that was used in the commission of the crime that was eventually disposed by Amores.
