IT seems Renaldo Balkman is about to get his second chance.

The PBA is close to lifting the ban on the controversial import after appealing his case through a letter he sent last week.

Balkman has been banned since 2013 following the former reinforcement’s outburst over officiating that led to him choking teammate Arwind Santos in a Commissioner’s Cup game for Petron.

The Puerto Rican, who also paid a P250,000 fine for his antics, has since been apologetic and is now taking the steps to making a comeback through his appeal letter.

League commissioner Willie Marcial ran it by Santos as well as former commissioner Chito Salud, who was the one who slapped the ban on Balkman that time.

“Okay na kay Arwind. Mukhang positive na rin si comm. Chito,” Marcial said, adding he will formally meet with Salud this week. “Pag okay na si comm Chito, ili-lift natin.”

Marcial has also set a meeting this week with the 33-year-old Balkman, who has already made a return to the country through San Miguel Beer-sponsored Alab Pilipinas in the Asean Basketball League.
