CALVIN Abueva sat out Alaska's opening game in the PBA Governors' Cup but showed up in street clothes to support the Aces at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on Sunday night.
Abueva said he is still recovering from a grueling schedule that included a three-week training camp in Europe with Gilas Pilipinas, but assured he will be back to work on Tuesday in time for Alaska's game against Ginebra on July 24.
"Pahinga muna ako, hindi pa ako nageensayo. Therapy muna," said Abueva after Alaska's 100-96 loss to Meralco, adding he has been battling fatigue since the end of the mid-season Commissioner's Cup.
Abueva observed that the Aces were sluggish in Sunday's contest and vowed to inject the energy they lacked once he returns to the court.
'The Beast' also said he will use his failure to make the national team in the last Olympic qualifier as his prime motivation, hopeful he could help his team make the playoffs.
