ALEX Nuyles said on Wednesday he is seeking the help of new commissioner Chito Narvasa over 'unpaid salaries' at KIA Carnival (now Mahindra Enforcers), which he claimed has refused to honor a new contract the ballclub made him sign lasy July.

The three-year pro said he signed a new contract with KIA last July 29, or more than a month before his old contract expired at the end of August. The new deal was worth P160,000 a month but Nuyles said he has not received his wages for the month of September.

“Hindi pa ako sumusuweldo. May pinirmahan akong kontrata pero hindi na-honor. Hindi ko alam kung bakit. Madami silang explanation,” Nuyles, in a somber tone, told Spin.ph on Wednesday.

In an interview with Spin.ph on Tuesday, Mahindra team manager Eric Pineda explained that the contract Nuyles signed was never counter-signed by management - and therefore not binding.

Asked to explain the change of heart, Pineda said new people in top management came in after the balllcub made the switch from KIA to Mahindra. They were the ones who made the decision not to keep Nuyles as well as other players who have been cut by the team, Pineda added.

Aside from Nuyles, Pineda bared that the team has also let go of Hans Thiele, Jason Deutchman, Virgil Buensuceso, Leo Avenido, and JR Cawaling.

On Tuesday, another former KIA player, Michael Burtscher, posted on his Facebook page that he was injured in practice last May but has been left waiting for surgery until now. He also complained of unpaid salaries.

Nuyles bared that he has long been asking for a copy of his new contract, which at the time he signed, did not contain the signatures of Columbian Autocar Corp. officials.

Incoming team governor Tomas Alvarez, brother of team owner Pepito Alvarez, also had no signature in the contract.

Nuyles claimed he was given all sort of promises at the time he signed, but never given a copy of the contract.

Hindi raw kasi pumirma yung alternate governor saka 'yung manager,” he said.

Nuyles, a former first-round pick of Rain nor Shine who was picked up by Blackwater in the dispersal draft and later traded to KIA, rued his chances of joining another team became dim as the impasse dragged on.

His finances are also running dry, Nuyles added.

The Camalig, Albay native said he has also become too depressed over the situation.

Nuyles said he is hoping Narvasa will intervene on his behalf.

“Pupunta muna kami kay commissioner, hihingi muna kami tulong tapos dun na kami magde-decide kung kukuha na kami ng lawyer,” he said.

Nuyles' agent Ed Ponceja, who has been handling the careers of players since 1993, said this is the first time he encountered a contract dispute of this nature but insisted the new contract should be ruled valid.

“This is the first time in the PBA na nangyari ito. Ngayon ko lang na-experience ito,” he added.
