RAIN or Shine coach Yeng Guiao professes his full confidence on import Bruno Sundov.
The 7-foot-2 3/4 Croatian may not be as flashy as the current batch of imports seeing action in the Commissioner’s Cup, but Guiao thinks Sundov is one of the reasons why the Elasto Painters went on a five-game winning streak before losing on Wednesday night to Talk n’ Text.
“Wala naman kaming problema sa import eh. Ang problema namin sinasakyan na siya ng mga kalaban, binubugbog at kinakalmot, pero wala pa ring foul,” said Guiao.
“I felt na masyadong ina-allow siyang maitulak at mapisikal siya na pati yung flagrant ni (Raniel) de Ocampo, hindi naman flagrant foul 1 yun, flagrant foul 2 yun,” said the Rain or Shine coach of De Ocampo’s hard slap on Sundov’s head during their loss to the Texters.
Guiao did not mention if the team will once file a complaint on the matter before the office of commissioner Chito Salud..
“They just allow a lot of physicality against him hindi lang sa Talk `N Text game,” stressed the Pampanga vice governor, who is with the rest of the Rain or Shine team in Panabo for a road game against Petron on Saturday.
“Napaka-kaunti nung tinatawag na foul ng referees against him. I think Bruno should be going to the free throw line more.”
Guiao also denied that his recent trip to the U.S. had something to do with scouting on a possible replacement for Sundov.
“Hindi. Hindi. Hindi kami magpapalit ng import ngayon. Atleast, not now. Wala kaming plano.”
