ANTIPOLO City - Bobby Ray Parks felt grateful about Calvin Abueva's gesture of apologizing to him following the incident between the Phoenix forward and his girlfriend Maika Rivera.
It would be better though if the message was meant more for the part-time actress and former national team player.
"I appreciate it," said the Blackwater rookie, who hasn't seen but was told about the apology Abueva made to him live on his Instagram account.
Parks admitted he and Abueva, his former teammate at Gilas Pilipinas, follow each other at Instagram and had no issue against each other not until that ugly incident between the Phoenix forward and Rivera happened on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
"But I felt like it should be directed more towards Maika," said Parks.
Abueva though said he won't be apologizing to Rivera in that same Instagram live which he did a few hours after his encounter with Rivera.
Parks said it was but natural for him to try and protect the welfare of his girlfriend.
"I just felt like it is more of trying to protect Maika at the end of the day. She's still a woman," said last year's no. 2 overall pick.
Parks though didn't let the distraction get in the way as he still finished with 16 points in thr Elite's 98-92 win over Rain or Shine.
It was the team's fourth win in five outings to retain the solo lead.
