BOBBY Ray Parks Jr. will soon be reporting to Blackwater at the end of San Miguel Alab Pilipinas’ campaign in the Asean Basketball League (ABL).
Parks’ agent and Alab Pilipinas team owner Charlie Dy said Parks is ready to head to Blackwater, the team that selected him second overall in last year’s PBA Rookie Draft.
Dy said Blackwater management has also given Parks time to rest and recover from the ill-fated ABL campaign of Alab Pilipinas, which ended on Wednesday with a loss to Hong Kong Eastern in Game Two of their first-round playoff.
“[Blackwater team manager] Silliman Sy messaged me that they will resume practice on April 8 but they’ll give him time to recover. So, most likely, after Holy Week na,” said Dy.
Parks, a two-time local ABL MVP, was drafted by Blackwater but didn’t play in the Philippine Cup as he still had a standing commitment to play for Alab Pilipinas in the ABL's 2018-2019 season.
Amid talk that the rights to Parks had been traded to Meralco in a three-team deal also involving TNT KaTropa, the son of former PBA import Bobby Parks shone for Alab but couldn't replicate the title run of the season before.
Parks is expected to be a big boost to the Elite, who won just two of 11 games in the Philippine Cup and failed to reach the playoffs.
Head coach Bong Ramos was later replaced by former assistant Aris Dimaunahan on an interim basis.
