BOBBY Ray Parks Jr. said Blackwater is for real after stringing up three straight victories to start the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The Elite began the conference with a 3-0 win-loss card with victories over Meralco, Barangay Ginebra, and Columbian, and Parks has no doubt their hot start isn’t a fluke.

“We are for real. We are real. That’s something I can say. We are for real,” said Parks Jr.

The Elite defeated Columbian, 118-110, to continue their winning streak to open the conference. Parks has been one of the big reasons for the impressive start as he had 23 points, five rebounds, and five assists in the win.

“It goes to show the hardwork we put in. We are young. It’s a different type of Blackwater right now. These games, they are no fluke. We took teams down the wire, it just happened the breaks of the game came our way. Those are great teams. It’s a testament to the hardwork from the coaches, to the ball boys, to us, to management, and we are reaping the benefits,” said Parks.

Parks though said it is not just him as the big reason for Blackwater’s stellar performance early in the Commissioner’s Cup as everybody has been working hard this conference. A proof of which is that when Parks sat on the bench for a big part of the fourth quarter due to a bleeding nose, the Elite were still able to sustain their lead in the contest.

“It’s not just about me. Everybody is doing their part. That’s what I said on the bench. Even Roi Sumang, I had to applaud. He came in frustrated. He had three fouls early, came back and knock down some big shots and big stops. I applaud him for that.

“Allein Maliksi came in as a veteran and knocked down big shots. Even Rabeh (Al-Hussaini) coming off the bench. It’s not just one person,” said Parks.

Parks said he is not yet satisfied as he hopes the Elite will continue to improve in the conference.
“Hopefully, we can continue to grow, contribute, build, continue to dig, and build our character,” said Parks.
