CLARK FREEPORT – It’s not exactly the beginning Kiefer Ravena was expecting in the PBA Philippine Cup restart.
The NLEX guard felt his slow start somehow rubbed off on the Road Warriors and factored in a 102-92 loss to Barangay Ginebra on opening day of the season’s lone conference on Sunday night.
Ravena never got going at the Angeles University Foundation gym, struggling on 2-8 shooting from the field to finish with six points. He also had four rebounds, and three assists in 31 minutes of play.
He was naturally hard on himself when asked about his thoughts following the loss.
“I started the game flat, personally,” said the 26-year-old guard from Iloilo. “I felt like I let the team down especially being one of the leaders of the team.

“Coach always talk about accountability, and for me that’s the biggest takeaway from the first game."
The Road Warriors will face debuting Magnolia on Wednesday, and Ravena stressed he can’t afford to have a similar start against a title contending team like the Hotshots.
The two-time UAAP MVP from Ateneo already said his piece to the Road Warriors and vowed to be more aggressive.
“I told them I couldn’t play and start like that. They look up to me at some point that I would be one of the leaders of the team. So I guess it’s one of an adjustment, and I’ll make sure it won’t happen again the rest of the tournament,” said Ravena.
