KIA tries to get a win run going as it tangles with Meralco in the PBA Philippine Cup on Wednesday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Brimming with confidence after a stunning win over Rain or Shine on Saturday that snapped an eight-month losing spell, the Picanto hope to claim another scalp in the struggling Bolts at 4:30 p.m.
But coach Ricky Dandan is reminding his wards not to get ahead of themselves, well aware they are still the underdogs against the Bolts.
“Of course, now that we have our confidence is back, we'll take it a game at a time,” Dandan said as his team aims for its second win in six games this conference. “Of course, we'll see how it pans out, but that remains to be seen if we can follow it up.”
The Picanto are fielding a depleted frontline without suspended standout Eric Camson, apart from injured Jay-R Reyes (sprain) Jackson Corpuz (wrist), as well as wing recruit Carlo Lastimosa.
Kia is also facing a Meralco side starving for a win, eager to arrest a three-game losing streak, the latest a 99-81 beating at the hands of sister squad TNT KaTropa just last Sunday.
Rashawn McCarthy, Roider Cabrera, Mark Yee, and Glenn Khobuntin carried the offensive load for the Picanto against the E-Painters and they are expected to do so again versus the Bolts who are bannered by Baser Amer, Chris Newsome, Jared Dillinger and Niño Canaleta.
San Miguel Beer seeks to stretch its winning streak to four games as it stakes its undefeated record against resurgent Globalport (2-2) at 7 o’clock.
