IN a rare show of emotion, June Mar Fajardo slammed the ball to the floor in frustration during the second quarter and got a technical from the referees.
San Miguel's four-time league MVP was apologetic after the game, saying he was disappointed with the way they were playing in Game Two against Alaska.
“Sorry. Nangigil ako. Sorry,” said Fajardo.
But the burst of emotion only served to wake up the gentle giant, who led a comeback that gave the Beermen a 105-94 win over Alaska and a 2-0 lead in their PBA Commissioner's Cup best-of-five series.
He and Renaldo Balkman combined for 34 of San Miguel’s 64 points in the second half.
“Siguro, siguro. Hindi ko alam eh," said Fajardo when asked if the rare technical got his juices flowing. "Parang nangigil lang ako. Gusto ko rin manalo tapos down kami. Pero okay na ‘yun. Sorry.”
“Kasi kailangan maka-score kami sa loob para ma-open up namin ‘yung labas. Buti nakuha namin ‘yung loob,” Fajardo said.
The 6-10 Cebuano finished with 21 points and 18 rebounds as the Beermen moved on the cusp of another finals appearance, but Fajardo doesn't expect Alaska to be an easy target come Game Three on Wednesday.
“Sana (sweep). Pero for sure, hindi ganun kadali ‘yung next game kasi nga kailangan nila manalo. Try na namin tapusin sa next game para makapagpahinga kami," said the San Miguel star slotman.
“Siyempre mahirap. Walang madali kasi playoffs na. Kailangan namin maging ready para sa Game 3. Hindi kami puwede mag-relax."
