ANTIPOLO - Ranidel de Ocampo has not joined full practice since Talk 'N Text's conquest of the PBA Commissioner's Cup title, his work limited to shootarounds and video viewing while sitting out two games due to a swollen right knee.
The hero of the Tropang Texters' latest championship run picked up from where he left off, putting together 13 points, four rebounds and three assists in 19 minutes as he marked his return game with 104-103 win over Alaska.
De Ocampo was also clutch as usual, scoring six points in the final period when the Tropang Texters weathered a gritty fightback by the previously unbeaten Aces.
“Nakapahinga naman ng konti kahit paano. Mabuti nakatulong din 'yun kasi kung di ko pinahinga, mamamaga lalo ang injury ko,” De Ocampo said, pointing to his right knee which was all banged up in the finals against Rain or Shine.
Although there is still pain in his right knee, de Ocampo said the timing of his return was just right, especially since Talk ‘N Text needed another big guy to help battle Alaska’s tall frontline.
“Meron pa rin (pain) pero ang importante lang, naipahinga ko din kasi sa sobrang hirap talaga nung finals, dun siya namaga,” said the Finals MVP of the last conference.
“Hindi pa naman ako nakapag-full practice. Ngayon nga lang ako nakabalik dahil sa practice, viewing lang ako saka scouting. So nadala lang ng adrenaline,” added the 33-year-old native of Tanza, Cavite.
