RANIDEL De Ocampo said Talk 'N Text wasn't out to make a statement with its 112-86 romp over San Mig in Game Three on monday night.
They were simply trying to survive, he said.
“Hindi naman siya statement game," said the 6-5 forward after the win that cut San Mig's lead to 1-2 in the PBA Governors Cup semifinals.
The Texters dropped back-to-back games to open the series - 92-88 in overtime as well as 93-85 - until De Ocampo led the resurgence in Game Three by scoring a game-high 24 points while going 10-of-13 from the floor - and 4-of-5 from beyond the three-point arc.
But more than his breakout game, the Gilas Pilipinas mainstay credited Talk 'N Text's second stringers like Danny Seigle and Elmer Espiritu for giving the team the much-needed lift.
“Mabuti na lang 'yung ibang mga players namin ready at nag-extra work sila (in practice). At kahit paano ngayong hinugot sila, nakalaro sila maayos,” he said.
The former St. Francis of Assisi star is hopeful the Tropang Texters can ride the momentum of the victory as they face another do-or-die match against the Texters on Wednesday.
