Ranidel de Ocampo comeback derailed as veteran goes down with mild Achilles tear

After missing the entire Philippine Cup due to a calf tear, Meralco veteran Ranidel de Ocampo's comeback has been set back by an Achilles tear, Jerome Ascano

MERALCO’s frontcourt roster suffered another blow as veteran big man Ranidel de Ocampo went down with another injury.

Team insiders bared the stretch forward could be out in the first four weeks of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup which begins this Sunday.

De Ocampo, 36, said he suffered a mild tear in his Achilles during the Bolts’ practice last week.

“Sayang nga yung two weeks na practice ko,” he related to SPIN.ph on Monday . “Two to four weeks (ako mawawala). Nakakainip na nga, e.”

De Ocampo missed the entire Philippine Cup to recover from a calf injury he previously suffered during the finals of the Governors Cup last season.

    “We’re Ok except for Ranidel’s still out. He has not comeback yet. Well he did comeback, but he re-injured something else. So he’ll be out for the next three weeks,” said Meralco coach Norman Black as he confirmed the bad news when he attended the National Athletes Day that preceded the POC (Philippine Olympic Committee) General Assembly at the Meralco Multi-Purpose Hall inside the Meralco Complex.
