RAIN or Shine got back to its winning ways in the PBA on Tour, beating NorthPort, 118-112, on Wednesday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Elasto Painters improved their win-loss slate to 7-2, bouncing back from their loss to Magnolia Chicken Timplados last Saturday in Dumaguete City.
Santi Santillan led Rain or Shine’s first-half attack and finished with 20 points and six rebounds sans head coach Yeng Guiao and lead assistant Caloy Garcia.
Guiao was out due to a pre-arranged family vacation in Bali, Indonesia while Garcia is in Japan for the training camp of La Salle where he is also an assistant coach.
Assistant coach Mike Buendia took the cudgels for the team, which built a 51-33 lead in the first half, and was up, 91-71, in the third quarter.
The Elasto Painters then weathered a late fightback by the Batang Pier, who dropped to 5-5, snapping their two-game winning streak.
“Sa start, may konting nerbiyos but as long as we stuck to the game plan na binilin naman ni coach Yeng. I give all the credit to the players. They played with effort especially coming off a loss from Magnolia, when we came back to practice, maganda naman ‘yung first day of practice namin,” said Buendia.
Anton Asistio had 17 points including a team-high five threes, while Andrei Caracut also had 17 for Rain or Shine, who also played minus Rey Nambatac and Nick Demusis.
NorthPort got 22 points and 16 rebounds from JM Calma in the loss.
