IT’S not just on the court where teams prepare for another rigorous PBA grind.
It’s that time of the offseason again where squads take time off from their practice sessions to jell off the court ahead of the league’s 42nd season on November 20.
Rain or Shine and Star were the first two ballclubs that held respective team-building sessions on Saturday, going to separate destinations down south.
After two weeks of training, the Elasto Painters spent the weekend at a beach resort in Nasgubu, Batangas while the Hotshots went to a retreat spot in Tagaytay.
RoS assistant coach Mike Buendia underlined the quick getaway’s significance to the teams.
“It’s more of bonding that is developed among the players and the staff,” said Buendia, who’s also the coach of Centro Escolar University’s juniors’ team. “To have a better relationship and after the talk, each individual will know their roles on the team.”
The entire rosters and staff of the E-Painters and the Hotshots attended the team-building, including practice players like Star’s Leo de Vera.
“(Glad to be with my) new family,” said De Vera, a former Mahindra reserve.
Both squads are expected to return to training on Monday.
