RAIN or Shine is not about to let go of the second longest-serving player in its current roster after re-signing Gabe Norwood to a two-year extension contract on Tuesday.
The Fil-Am guard, selected by the franchise as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 Rookie Draft, inked another maximum deal with the same team he has helped lead to two PBA championships.
Only team captain Jireh Ibanes has been with the Elasto Painters longer than Norwood, having been the team’s second round pick in the 2006 draft.
With the departure of top gunner Paul Lee and big man JR Quinahan, Rain or Shine stressed it was a must to have Norwood back in its lineup.
“We are very happy to have Gabe,” said team alternate governor Edison Orbiana shortly after Norwood signed at the dotted line at the Rain or Shine office in Pasig.
“His signing for two years meant having one key player back who helped us capture two PBA championships, and will continue to provide leadership for us to stay in title contention.”
