RAIN or Shine hopes to keep itself sharp while waiting to know who its opponent will be in the PBA Philippine Cup playoffs.
The Elastopainters are the first team to finish their elimination-round campaign after defeating Meralco, 88-85, last Friday. That means the squad will have to wait a while as the eliminations will finish in two weeks' time.
At 8-3 (win-loss), Rain or Shine is also not guaranteed a Top Two spot - and a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
Rain or Shine coach Caloy Garcia said they will be looking for tune-up games, while taking advantage of the break to have a team-building session.
“The difficult part is masyadong mahaba ‘yung wala kaming laro. We will try to find tune-up games during the break,” said the soft-spoken Rain or Shine coach.
“We’ve actually set a team building for us kasi hindi pa kami nagti-team building to start the season. We were trying to look for a good time to have a team building,” said Garcia.
Garcia also said the long break is another opportunity for the team to heal its injuries, most especially Raymond Almazan, who has been sitting out games due to an ankle injury.
“Hopefully, in the next round, Raymond will be healthy. It’s also one thing that we have to look at is how to be healthy during the break. Pinaka-importante ‘yung conditioning. We will watch more videos together. Probably after the team building, by that time, alam na namin kung sino papasok siguro,” said Garcia.
