RAIN or Shine drew collective efforts from import Bruno Sundov and Paul Lee to score a 103-93 win over skidding Barako Bull and break-off a two-game losing skein in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Wednesday at the Astrodome.
Sundov scattered 16 of his game-high 27 points in the second half, while Lee poured 13 of his 20 markers during the same stretch as the two and the rest of the Elasto Painters played with a sense of urgency this time following back-to-back losses against Talk `N Text and an all-Filipino Petron squad last weekend.
The Elasto Painters improved to 6-3 for solo third place.
“We shot the ball a lot better today than in our previous games. We were really looking to get Jeff (Chan) and Paul, and some of our bigs to get their usual percentages in the perimeter, which makes it easier for Bruno,” Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao said shortly after the game.
Barako Bull cut down a 13-point Rain or Shine lead to 69-72 after Mark Macapagal nailed a corner three-pointer with 10:19 in the final period, but Sundov, Lee and Chan kept the Energy Cola at bay with their timely shots inside and out.
The Energy Cola dropped their fifth straight game and fell to 3-6 overall, just one-game ahead of cellar-dweller Globalport Batang Pier (2-7).
