RAIN or Shine coach Yeng Guiao welcomed the lifetime ban the PBA slapped on Tropang TNT import Ivan Johnson on Saturday.
“It’s good riddance,” he said after the Elasto Painters’ 95-86 win over Star. “He’s a world-class a__hole, anyway.”
“They just tolerated his antics last year, kaya lumaki ulo,” added the outspoken mentor, one of those who have been involved in an altercation with Johnson last season. “I guess that’s just karmic justice. We don’t need guys like him in the Philippines.”
The PBA handed the ban on Johnson for "utter disrespect of authority" according to media bureau chief Willie Marcial after the mercurial import uttered choice words to commissioner Chito Narvasa before exiting the court due to getting ejected from his second technical foul in the loss against Meralco.
Guiao added insult to injury, saying the 6-foot-8 Johnson never picked on anyone his own size.
“If you notice, he doesn’t pick on the imports,” the ROS coach said. “Ang gusto niyang awayin yung mga Pilipino dahil naliliitan siya sa mga Pilipino. Hindi naman nakikipag-away sa import yan eh. Binu-bully niya yung mga Pinoy."
“I guess that’s the best for the league,” he added.
