RAIN or Shine has finally parted ways with Dior Lowhorn, bringing in a young import in Greg Smith in a bid to revive its faltering campaign in the PBA Governors Cup.
Head coach Yeng Guiao said Smith, listed at 6-6 in the US, arrived on Monday and was set to take part in practice with the team for the first time on Tuesday morning.
"He's an inside-outside player who mostly played 3 and 4 in the US," said Guiao of Smith, who played for the Colorado State Rams in the US NCAA but went undrafted in the 2013 NBA Rookie Draft.
Guiao said they are looking for versatility from Smith after an underwhelming campaign with the 'one-dimensional' Lowhorn, who failed to impress in his third tour of duty in the pro league.
With Lowhorn, Rain or Shine, the reigning Commissioners Cup champion, slumped to a 3-4 (win-loss) record and is just inside the eight-team cut line for the playoffs.
Smith is set to make his Rain or Shine debut in a game against Mahindra on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
