RAIN or Shine defeated Meralco, 119-111, on Saturday in its final tune-up game before the resumption of the PBA 50th Season Governors’ Cup at the Acropolis Gym.
The Elasto Painters are in the final phase of their preparation before they come back for the Governors’ Cup where they will be up against Barangay Ginebra on October 9 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Santi Santillan, Felix Lemetti, and Stanley Pringle played in the tune-up game as they showed their readiness in coming back for the conference after injuries that kept them out early in the conference.

Santillan suffered a fracture in his right hand, while Lemetti had a partial ACL tear. Pringle underwent surgery following a right lateral meniscus tear.
Meralco missed the services of import Jordan Varnado in the match-up, as he was rested for the game.
Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao said the tune-up game is not yet a gauge as they resume their season with a 4-2 win-loss record for first place in Group B.
“Maganda ang takbo ng team pero siyempre, ‘yung practice game natin against Meralco, hindi mo naman puwedeng pagbasihan ng full strength mo ‘yan o kung ano talaga ‘yung kundisyon ng team dahil kulang din ‘yung line-up nila, wala ‘yung import nila,” said Guiao.
“But we want to use it as conditioning exercise para rin mentally at physically, maramdaman na ng players ‘yung game-like na conditions," he added.
"Part of the the preparation, maganda na nanalo pero mas importante sa amin makita namin sina Felix Lemetti na maayos na, makita namin sina Santi na kaya na maglaro, si Stanley Pringle nakapaglaro na rin."
