RAIN or Shine parades its new import on Wednesday when it takes on Magnolia in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The Elastopainters take on the Hotshots at 4:30 p.m.
Chicago State product Carl Montgomery was brought in as replacement for Denzel Bowles, who suffered an injury in his knee in their 86-84 win over Alaska.
Rain or Shine coach Caloy Garcia expressed confidence the 6-foot-8 Montgomery is a good fit to the team.
“We can be a quicker team. Nagfifit naman siya sa quickness ng mga players,” said Garcia.
The Elastopainters need the win to improve from joint sixth with Phoenix Pulse at 4-5.
Magnolia, meanwhile, is on a two-game skid after winning five consecutive games. The Hotshots lost to Barangay Ginebra, 102-81, and are in fifth place with a 5-4 win-loss record.
In the second game, San Miguel eyes its second straight victory when it goes up against Phoenix Pulse at 7 p.m.
The Beermen are looking to improve on their 3-5 win-loss mark after a 109-105 win over NLEX with Chris McCollough debuting with 47 points and 10 rebounds.
The Fuel Masters are out to bounce back from their 100-98 loss to Columbian last Saturday.
