RAIN or Shine has activated Luis Villegas just in time for the PBA 50th Season Philippine Cup playoffs.
The ballclub announced the transaction on Tuesday, making the No. 3 pick of the 2023 PBA Rookie Draft eligible to play for the Elasto Painters starting the quarterfinal round against Meralco on Saturday.

Villegas has been sidelined for Rain or Shine since December 2024 when he underwent a second ACL surgery. The one-and-done player of UE in the UAAP has played just eight games in his pro career.
Villegas’ last game in the PBA was on October 18, 2024 in Game 5 of the Governors’ Cup semifinals against TNT where he played eight minutes and had three rebounds.
Villegas found himself on the injured/ reserve list the following conference in the Commissioner’s Cup and underwent surgery thereafter.
Rain or Shine faces Meralco in the quarterfinals of the 50th Season Philippine Cup with the Elasto Painters at No. 2 and holding a twice-to-beat advantage.
