CALVIN Abueva's health problem is more than serious than just a case of tonsilitis.

Coach Alex Compton disclosed Abueva could missed a few more games in the PBA Philippine Cup after slighty tearing his quadricep during the offseason.

Abueva sat out the team's 99-97 overtime loss against NLEX Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum due to the injury, which was apart from the case of tonsilitis that forced him to miss Sunday's opening rites.

Compton later told what was really bothering 'The Beast.'

"He's really injured and it wasn's about the tonsilitis that he got hospitalized for during the opening ceremony. He's got a quadricep (injury)," said the Alaska mentor

"We cannot risk a complete tear."

Abueva earlier said his recurring tonsilitis forced him to miss the opening ceremony of the league''s 42nd season last week, but didn't mention about the injury he suffered as the team was preparing for the all-Filipino tournament.

The Aces won't have their next game until Sunday next week (Dec. 3) against defending champion San Miguel. Compton said he won't force playing Abueva, who he referred to as the most dynamic player in the league, if he's not completely healed.

"It really depends on his development. If he’s not ready for San Miguel I’m not gonna force him. He’s too important," said the amiable Alaska coach.

"With Calvin, we can win or lose against San Miguel. And without Calvin, we can win or lose against San Miguel."
