CEBU – AS he arrived at the Home Care Center for Children in Lapu-Lapu City on Saturday, June Mar Fajardo readily saw pure joy in the eyes of his children who immediately flocked him.
The PBA and Gilas Pilipinas superstar was grateful to give joy for a moment to the kids as the Visayas All-Stars and the national team took time to give back to the community with that outreach program on the eve of the finale of the All-Star week.
Fajardo gave a message to the kids at the care house.
“Ayaw mo pabadlong ug paminaw mo sa taga-diri ug kang ma’am Leticia (Don’t misbehave and listen to the people here and ma’am Leticia),” the PBA MVP said, referring to the head of the care home.
Visayas All-Star Asi Taulava marveled at how easily Fajardo mingled with the children.
“That was fun, especially being there for the kids, and at the same time watching June Mar loosen up,” the NLEX center said. “I haven’t seen June Mar (like that). Over the years, I’ve seen June Mar grow, and to see him start reaching out – I think it’s a lot easier for him here in Cebu because he’s home and can speak in Visayan.”
“It’s much easier to him to adapt to the culture here compared to when he’s in Manila or when he’s traveling around with us,” he added.
Fellow Cebuano All-Stars Dondon Hontiveros, JR Quinahan, and Roger Pogoy also gave some advice to the kids before distributing backpacks that contained tumblers and t-shirts from the league.
