POY Erram showed a glimpse of his potential when fully healthy as he stuffed the stats sheet in Blackwater’s loss to Star in the PBA Governors’ Cup on Sunday night.
Coming off a blowout loss to Meralco last Friday when he contributed four points on 2-of-7 shooting, six boards, three blocks in 18 minutes, the Elite star slotman put up a double-double of 11 points and 15 boards along with a whopping seven blocks, while committing only one turnover in almost 38 minutes of play against the Hotshots.
“Bumawi lang ako kasi last game wala eh,” Erram said. “Gusto ko lang ngayon ‘di ko na hinahanap tira ko, tinry ko lang gawin yung san mas may lapses kami which is defense, kahit papano nakatulong ako lalo na sa ilalim.”
Flirting with a triple-double is remarkable considering the 6-foot-7 center was just in his third game back after being out for almost a year due to a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in his right knee.
“Paunti-unti nababalik ko naman siya, pero ayaw ko rin madaliin,” the 27-year-old cager said. “Kahit na medyo nakaka-excite, iniisip ko din na pag minamadali ko maapektuhan din yung team.”
The former Gilas Pilipinas pool member's presence was all positive on Sunday night as he anchored the Elite defense that saw him deny Star import Cinmeon Bowers twice.
“Siyempre iba yung feeling kapag nakapalpal ka ng import, mas nakaka-hype,” Erram said. “Pero syempre kahit naman ganun, kailangan matranslate pa din sa panalo, so nakablocks nga ako pero sila yung nanalo, it doesn't count pa din.”
Erram is hoping the Elite share the ball better after dishing out just seven assists compared to the Hotshots’ 23.
“Yun nga diniscuss namin sa dugout na kailangan pa namin i-trust yung each other pagdating sa court,” Erram said. “Kasi kapag practice nagpapasahan kami pero pagdating sa game nagkakanya-kanya kami which is mali.”
