THE Mall of Asia Arena's budding relationship with the PBA almost got destroyed when it bumped off the pro league's games from its Thursday schedule to accommodate the concert of Korean pop star Psy.
Now, it all amounts to nothing.
MOA management has announced that the concert of the Korean singer who skyrocketed to worldwide fame with his 'Gangnam Style' hit has been postponed to February, leaving the MOA Arena with an empty Thursday schedule and a strained relationship with one of its top tenants.
Prior to the postponement, Psy's concert was moved from the MOA open grounds to the indoor arena, leaving management with no choice but to ask the pro league to move its Thursday playdate featuring Talk 'N Text and Alaska to the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.
According to league insiders, MOA Arena management called pro league officials after the postponement of Psy's concert to offer the suddenly open Thursday slot - an offer which the PBA of course declined.
One tweet now making the rounds best expressed the sentiment of league fans: 'Ayaw nyo kasi kay Psy-rus (Alaska star Cyrus Baguio) ayan di biglang pumuwede si Psy.'
Incidentally, the league also had to call off its scheduled playdate at the MOA Arena on Saturday to give way to an event of a major religious group.
