PLENTY of tickets remain unsold hours before Gilas Pilipinas' match against a team of NBA stars despite a drastic drop in the prices, a sales agent for Smart Araneta Coliseum said.
As of 3 p.m. on Tuesday, a Ticketnet sales agent told Spin.ph there were still 5,514 tickets available for the Patron A, B and C sections as well the Upper Box and the General Admission areas of the Big Dome.
The game is set to start at 7 p.m.
There was also few activity around the ticket outlets of the Big Dome hours before the match even with the prohibitive ticket prices slashed by 30 percent since Saturday.
Patron A and B tickets, originally sold for P23,300 and P20,970, respectively, have been reduced to P16,310 and P14,679 by organizers.
“Naka-30 percent off na po kami since nung Saturday. Pero di po namin alam kung gaano na karami ang nabenta,” said the ticket agent.
The Big Dome has a seating capacity of at least 19,000, but whether it will be filled to the rafters, given the expensive ticket prices, remains to be seen.
The benefit games, dubbed the 'PLDT Home: The Last Home Stand,' were organized to give Gilas a pair of tune-up matches against quality opposition in its buildup for the Fiba World Cup and the Asian Games.
The second match is slated on Wednesday.
Los Angeles Clippers star forward Blake Griffin, San Antonio Spurs swingman and NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard and Paul George of the Indiana Pacers lead the team of NBA stars.
Other members of the PLDT Home Fibr All-Stars are Toronto Raptors’s DeMar DeRozan, Terrence Ross and Kyle Lowry, Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard, Houston Rockets’ James Harden, Clippers rookie Nick Johnson, Detroit Pistons’ Brandon Jennings, Dallas Mavericks center Tyson Chandler and Ed Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Proceeds will go to the Philipine Disaster Recovery Foundation and Caritas Manila.
